Buccaneer Bay Team Registration Requirements

This year (2024-2025), team requirements are as follows:

1.)  Annual National Membership(s): 

• Each membership (Schools, Community Groups, Home-Schooled Students) must purchase an annual membership.  These groups can can register with the national organization at www.odysseyofthemind.com. The cost is $290 for the 1st membership, and there are discounts for multiple memberships.  Some School Districts purchase multiple memberships to take advantage of this discount.  Go to our National site for more details: https://www.odysseyofthemind.com/p/join/

2.)  Team Registration(s):

1. 2023-24:  Teams may register online Team Registration or here: https://www.odysseyofthemind.com/member-resources/
   • The team registration cost is $150.00 per divisional team and $100.00 for Primary teams (divisional team fee includes a $50 regional fee).
     • All teams must be registered and paid by December 15th to avoid a $20 late fee.
     • This fees is to help pay for custodial services, printing costs, the program, T-shirts for judges, and other miscellaneous expenses.
   • Regional tournament is February 22, 2025 at Mulberry High School, 1 Panther Place, Mulberry, 33860.
   • Each team is required to provide one judge and one worker for the regional competition.
   • All teams must be registered with complete coach names and contact information, judge and worker names and contact information.  (MUST BE JUDGE and WORKER INFO, not COACH)!
   • No registrations taken after December 15th!

     • JUDGES:
       • Judges are the heart of a quality tournament, so we must make sure that each team recruits someone who wants to be a judge.  For us to ensure a successful experience for the participants, judges must commit to and attend the training, or teams will be penalized.
       • Judges are committed to:
         • attend judge training on (2/8/25 @ Mulberry High School, 1 Panther Place, Mulberry, 33860)
         • one area the whole day of competition (2/22/25 @ Mulberry High School, 1 Panther Place, Mulberry, 33860) and
         • can’t leave to see their own child compete in another problem, so teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators make good prospects for judges.
       • NOTE: most judging assignments will be given to the judge at judge training by the person who trained them (Problem Captain).  However, on tournament day, the Problem Captain may need to move your judge to a different assignment.
       • If you do not yet have a judge or worker for your team, just put coach name & contact information in order to complete your registration.
     • WORKERS:
       • Workers will be given an assignment to work a 2 hour shift (see worker form below for more details)
       • When entering team/judge/worker contact information on the state site, do not use a School District email address. SDHC blocks many email addresses making communication difficult. We must have email addresses that get checked regularly.
       • All judge information must be complete as of December 15th…NO EXCEPTIONS!

Note to coordinator or coach: please print and complete these forms prior to registering your team.  They are for your use in collecting data for the online team registrations, so do not forward to Regional Director.

Problem Clarification: February 15th of the current OM year. All teams need to check the national website for problem clarification FREQUENTLY, even after this date. National has added some clarifications in the past after the deadline, even up to World Finals. In the end, it is the team’s responsibility.
